Mains Compliance

BTEC Level 3

Course Overview

This essential mains compliance course for all those who work on or near a live electrical supply and need to ensure that they are a ‘competent person’ under the terms of the ‘electricity at work’ regulations. If you wish to install security systems (with the exception of Fire Panels) or other electrical equipment in commercial or domestic properties, this course will teach you how to install fused spurs and conduct other work safely, efficiently and legally within current legislation.

From connection in junction boxes and control panels to circuit isolation and practical wiring, this course allows you to undertake ‘minor works’ to an existing electrical circuit, for example adding sockets or a fused spur, that does not involve the addition of a new circuit.

Although this work does not have to be undertaken by a registered electrician and you do not need to notify your local building control office, all electrical work must comply with BS 7671, the wiring regulations.

As this course is very hands-on there are no pre-requisites to enroling on the programme. Everything you need to know will be taught to you over the course of three days by one of our tutors. People who should consider attending are electrical engineers, technicians, and those who work near mains supplies.

The course carries a BTEC Level 3 Certificate – an industry-recognised qualification for anyone seeking career opportunities in the electronic security sector. By holding this qualification, you demonstrate to your clients and colleagues you have skills in Mains Compliance.
