Course Overview
Find out just how simple it really is to plan, design, splice and connect optical fibre.
On day 1 of this Practical Optical Fibre course, we take you through the essential principles and provide you with the chance to plan and design a fibre system under the supervision of your tutor.
Most of day 2 is spent in the workshops splicing, polishing and installing fibre networks, ready for when you finish training.
Who should attend?
There are no prerequisites for this training. The fibre optic course is open to all those who are interested in optical fibre. It is also ideal for those who wish to learn how to splice optical fibre and to plan, design and install CCTV systems using fibre optics.
The course carries a BTEC Level 3 Award – a respected qualification for anyone seeking career opportunities in the electronic security sector. By holding this qualification, you demonstrate to your clients and colleagues you have proven skills in Fibre Optic.

Lewis began his career as a Weapons Engineering Mechanic in The Royal Navy working with weapons systems, telecommunications, magazine safety sprinkler systems and small arms. On leaving the Royal Navy Lewis joined one of the UK’s largest independent security systems companies as their Chief service/installation engineer, then in 1999 was head-hunted to become the Head of Engineering at the Career Transition Partnership to run their engineering department and to deliver Security Systems training courses.
