Practical IP & Networking

BTEC Level 3

Course Overview

Traditionally, IP has been used extensively to transmit data. Now, to a host of driving forces, IP is seen as the answer to the transmission to not only of data but also voice and video – in today’s world and for the foreseeable future.

This training course looks at IP and its associated protocols in the world of CCTV, as well as how it is utilised in ‘real-life’ applications in the security arena. In addition, we discuss many of the issues that need to be addressed when using or considering the use of IP.

From lighting basic theory of TCP/IP and UDP to setting up IP cameras, domes and codecs, this practical course is the ideal choice if you are looking to enter this area of technical security and widen your knowledge of this technology.

As this is a very ‘hands-on’ programme, the course is aimed at anyone who is responsible for designing, installing, configuring or maintaining IP networks, no matter your level or ability. The excellent blend of workshop and classroom training will prepare you for challenging ‘real world’ situations in the modern security systems industry.

The course carries a BTEC Level 3 Award – a respected qualification for anyone seeking career opportunities in the electronic security sector. By holding this qualification, you demonstrate to your clients and colleagues you have proven skills in IP System Networking.
